Londis awarded “Best Fresh Supply Chain” for the second year in a row!
For the second year in a row, ADM Londis, the Irish grocery retail group, has been named “Best in Class – Fresh Logistics Supply Chain Operation” at the Checkout “Best in Fresh” 2014 awards at the annual awards gala in the Four Seasons Hotel, Dublin on Tuesday June 17th. The success of the grocery group’s Centralised Chilled Distribution facility was recognised alongside a number of new supply chain developments which the group has delivered over the past twelve months.
The Checkout “Best in Class – Fresh Logistics Supply Chain Operation” award acknowledges innovation and efficiency along a retailer’s supply chain, particularly in fresh produce, and honours a retailer that has excelled in delivering a fully-optimised logistics solution.
According to Checkout judges “In the past year, ADM Londis has reported record sales in dairy, deli, and red meat categories across its portfolio, has brought in multi-temperature vehicles, has trebled its chilled promotional offering, and is now onto Phase 5 of its iSIS on-line ordering platform. Londis is a worthy winner for the second year running.”
Commenting, Stephen O’Riordan, Londis Chief Executive said, “We are delighted to be recognised by the industry in this way. A year ago we accepted this award and we are delighted that our efforts to continue to deliver innovative and efficient logistics to our retailers have been further recognised in 2014. Since the successful launch of our Centralised Chill facility in 2012 we have continued to develop our fresh supply chain in order to deliver a best in class service to Londis retailers. Our chilled product offering has evolved considerably with new suppliers recruited to the facility as well as doubling our fresh own brand offering. As a Group we will continue to draw on cutting edge technologies to generate savings for both our retailers, and in turn for their customers”.
Londis stores in Adare and KCR, Dublin 6 were among the stores within the group that were recognised at the awards ceremony with Londis Adare winning the award for Best In Store Bakery Offering whilst Londis KCR was recognised in the Fresh Food Retailing in a Forecourt category.
Commenting Stephen O’Riordan said: “We would like to congratulate each of the stores which were recognised at the Checkout Best in Fresh awards. As Londis retailers, these stores understand the importance of local and know that their strength is in their ability to customise their offering specifically for the customers and community which they serve. It is through continuous hard work and dedication that these stores have achieved these results and we are proud and delighted that they have been recognised by the industry in this way.”
With sales growth broadly very challenging within the Irish grocery market, the Londis group have been focusing on providing efficiencies which have proved hugely beneficial to Londis retailers in terms of delivering both operational and margin benefit. In the past year Londis has introduced a number of measures which have streamlined the group’s logistics even further. Multi-temperature vehicles mean that larger stores are now receiving combined ambient and chilled deliveries. Londis’ innovative ordering system iSIS now delivers even more information to retailers allowing them to place orders which respond specifically to their customers demands.Return To Londis News
