Londis launches new ‘local like you’ campaign with €1m investment
Dublin, 22nd July 2013, Londis has today announced that it will launch a multi-faceted media campaign to cement its position within the Irish grocery market. The group which is owned and run by independent retailers will invest more than one million euro in the campaign over the next 12 months, which includes TV advertisements, digital activity and in-store promotion. The through-the-line campaign launches with a forty second tv advert which will kick off on July 22nd.
The campaign highlights exactly what makes Londis different from other retailers in Ireland. Because Londis is owned and run by locals and because each Londis retailer is a part of the community they serve, each Londis is shaped by, and for, the local community in which it operates. In other words – it’s local like you. So whether it’s providing tea and tissues for local Mums on the first day of school or paying for a bus to take a local team to an away fixture, there’s no end to the ways in which Londis retailers demonstrate just how local they are. The new advert cleverly portrays this, demonstrating a Londis retailer who is incorporated into various parts of community life including a still life art class, the local five a side team, a family movie night and the local needle work club. The advert, shot in Howth, Co. Dublin was developed by Language, produced by Rocket Science Productions and directed by Ian Power.
Commenting on the new campaign, Londis Group Marketing Manager, Ruth Norton said: “We are very excited about the new campaign. The TV ad is designed to show the unique position which Londis holds in the community by personifying the store as a constant presence in everyone’s life – there for you, ready to serve and always ready with exactly what you need. The campaign shows that, alongside an excellent range of product and excellent prices, Londis retailers add local value in so many different ways to communities around Ireland. We wanted a unique way of demonstrating just how much each retailer cares about the community of which they are a part and the locals which they serve and this campaign delivers on this objective with charm, warmth and humour.”
To coincide with the launch of the new campaign, Londis will also launch a facebook initiative calling on consumers to show just how local they are by suggesting a great family break in their county to be in with the chance to win a break in a location of their choosing, developed by the Londis facebook community. The submissions can include suggestions on places to stay, activity ideas, good places to eat, and any other hidden ‘gems’ that they want to share. Five finalists will be picked by public vote.
The facebook campaign runs from Monday July 22nd. For further information check out http://www.facebook.com/londisirelandReturn To Londis News
