Commenting on the Award win, Ruth Norton, Londis Group Marketing Manager said, “We are delighted that Londis Texoil, Monaghan has received this prestigious award. The store was a significant amount of time in development and represents the Group’s commitment towards ensuring an enhanced shopping experience for the customer.  We have designed this shop according to the tasks which motivate a consumer to visit a convenience store and as such believe we have individually enhanced all possible touch points which a consumer experiences within a store.  Collectively, we therefore believe that we have provided an exceptional shopping experience to the customer, while at the same time and through ensuring a considered and balanced offering, enhancing margin opportunities for the retailer.”

The ShelfLife C-Store awards, now running for ten years were set up to recognise retailers and retail outlets that set the highest standards in the retail industry. Speaking at the Awards Ceremony, former GAA president, Sean Kelly called on Irish consumers to think about the future viability of their local communities when making their shopping choices, “Irish retail business has played a key part in the development of the Irish economy and the building of identifiable, proud vibrant communities all over Ireland. It is imperative that these local enterprises survive if, we are to retain, as a nation, our national identity based on strong local communities rather than soulless conglomerates without heart or shape. All retail outlets are providing employment, good service and are thriving living hubs in the towns and villages of Ireland.”  Our planning laws and political decisions must safeguard this vital dimension of our infrastructure, economy and heritage. From a practical and political viewpoint I call on people to support their local retailers and ensure their survival” he said.
