Londis DCU, which has had a branded presence on campus since 2018, has announced it is to contribute €50,000 to support the Dublin City University (DCU) Sport Scholarship Programme.

The funding will go towards supporting elite student athletes at DCU by providing them with the necessary resources to excel in both their sports and academic pursuits. The scholarship programme offers a comprehensive support system, including financial assistance, specialist coaching, access to state-of-the-art facilities, academic support, and career guidance.

Londis DCU was revamped in 2018 and is a stunning example of the high standards reached in Irish grocery retail. The integration of technology and ambition has created a shop that stands out from its peers and is a firm favourite with students and faculty alike. As a way to give back to the students, who are their main shopper base, Londis DCU is excited to be investing €50,000 to the DCU Sport Scholarship fund, facilitated through DCU Educational Trust.

Commenting, Nick Ye, Manager of Londis DCU said, “Londis DCU has been an integral part of life on campus since 2018 and in that time students and faculty members have supported us. This is a way for us to recognise their support and loyalty through our actions. We are proud to be supporting the DCU Sport Scholarship Programme.”

Conor Hayes, Londis Sales Director, said, “We are thrilled to see the relationship between Londis DCU and the university further strengthened by this donation. Since opening the doors in 2018, Londis DCU has become a huge part of the University, and we look forward to serving the students and faculty for many years to come.”

DCU’s sports facilities include a modern sports complex, a national athletics stadium, and various pitches and courts. The university has a strong tradition of success in athletics, Gaelic games, rugby, basketball, and soccer, with recent successes including winning the 2025 Sigerson Cup. Notable athletes who have studied in DCU include Olympians and national champions such as steeplechaser Fionnuala McCormack (née Britton), boxer Clare Grace, as well as GAA stars Michael Murphy (Donegal) and Kilkenny’s Richie Hogan.

James Galvin, Director of Sport at DCU said, “We are delighted to have Londis DCU make this very generous donation to the DCU Sport Scholarship Programme. This funding will help support our entire programme and enable so many of our high-performing student athletes to excel both on the playing field and in their studies.”
